Congratulations on your new braces! It sure is an adjustment to figure out how to rock your new orthodontist installed artistry. You can accessorize with colored bands, smile with a metallic glint, and show off your developing smile. But what about every day living with braces? What should you include in your braces survival kit? Don’t worry, we got you covered.

1. Chapstick

Nothing dries out your mouth quite like the change in how your lips and cheeks feel after new braces. Having some comforting lip balm handy in your braces survival kit will keep your lips from suffering from that cracked and chapped feeling that sometimes happens with braces.

2. Dental Wax

Sometimes, wires and brackets can scratch or irritate the inside of your cheeks and mouth. Having non flavored dental wax handy can help smooth out any part of your mouth that feels uncomfortable, Good in a pinch if a wire comes loose as well.

3. Toothbrush, Toothpaste, and Floss

Truth is, a clean mouth is always a good idea, but when you have more ways to get food stuck in your teeth, having a toothbrush and toothpaste handy can be a life saver. Your braces survival kit would not be complete without these everyday heroes.

4. Water

This is just a good habit anytime. But with braces it can be a little extra helpful if your mouth is dry, or you just want to rinse your mouth after a snack. Water is just healthy and handy.

5. Pain Relief

Sometimes after an adjustment its normal to have a little discomfort and achiness. Having tylenol or motrin ready to go in your braces survival kit to help calm things down so you can focus on what you need to accomplish on any given day, can be a life saver.
